Part 2

Svenn was going to wait until later in the week to put this up but, Grayce threatened him with sleeping on the couch until he did so....

I quickly consecrated the ground, thanking the Light for its blessing upon me. The Death Knight howled as the blessed ground singed his hooves. I placed a Seal of Judgement upon him; did anyone deserve to be judged more than this unrighteous soul? I watched in satisfaction as the blow struck. My gratification lasted only a moment however, as the Tauren raised an undead minion from the ground beside him to aid him in his fight against me. Beset on two fronts, I cast my Hammer of Justice upon the Tauren so that I could turn my full attention to his weaker partner for a moment. I raised my arms and called upon one of the holiest of all my spells: Exorcism. I would send this creature back to the hell from whence it came.

I had no sooner finished casting my spell when I found my body suddenly wracked with weakness. My blood boiled, I felt feverish and as I began to shiver I realized that I had not one but three types of plague. My health began to drain away quickly. I watched helplessly as the Tauren swung his sword. Feebly I attempted to place my shield between us but he was the faster and stronger of us now; a crippling blow landed on my sword arm. I staggered, clutching my wounded biceps. The zombie minion, half alive but still fighting, landed another blow.

Vaguely, I heard Dinky Dolittle’s cries from the sidelines. As the air swam in front of me, I whispered a prayer for cleansing. I seemed to hear birdsong and for a brief moment I could smell new grass and lily-of-the-valley. I felt a rush of spring throughout my body and suddenly all trace of fever and plague were gone. With a stronger voice I pleaded to the Light for healing. A beam of sunlight broke through the leaden sky and shone upon me; my body was healed and whole. I could hear Dinky laughing now.

With a shout of renewed vigor, I leaped upon my attackers. The Tauren put up his bone shield, rightly afraid of my endurance in the face of his attacks. I heard the foul sound of a horn; he was pulling out all the stops in his efforts to defeat me. I laughed grimly; he would not succeed. I sent a bolt of Holy Wrath toward his zombie, finishing him off. Then I turned my full attention to the Tauren. Calling upon the ancient blessing available to my kind, the Blessing of Kings, I began to hack my way through his shield. One by one the bones fell until he stood before me, exhausted and helpless.

He snarled something at me but I did not take the time to try to understand his curses. I have never been one to toy with an enemy, even one so foul as a death knight. Raising my sword high, wings glowing behind me, I plunged it into his heart. He gasped, eyes bulging, grasping the sword with both hands. He fell to his knees, then to the ground. Dinky cheered wildly from the sidelines. I stood beside the body, chest heaving with exertion.

I was turning to Dinky when I saw a strange movement out of the corner of my eye. A noxious green smoke was rising from the ground underneath the Tauren. I watched in horror as his body moved once, twice, three times. He rose up, reanimated as a zombie. In a voice that sounded of the grave, he laughed. I raised my sword once more. It appeared our battle was not finished. Once again, I called upon my holy power of exorcism. I saw the blow hit him and watched as it took most of his life away. He raised his sword to strike at me but I managed to deflect the blow onto my pauldrons. I sent out Holy Wrath and he crumpled to the ground, finished once and for all.

Dinky stood beside me, staring at the body of our fallen enemy. “Wow!” he exclaimed. “I didn’t think that fight was ever going to end! You sure showed him though, huh?” I turned to see my tiny gnome friend dancing with glee. “He’ll think twice before he picks on Dinky Dolittle again!”

“That he shall.” I said gravely.

Dinky opened the treasure chest. “Alright!” he squeaked. “Arena wristguards! I’ve been after those for months! Let’s go celebrate.” Together we mounted and rode off, abandoning the death knight’s body behind us on the arena floor. Grog and ale awaited us at the Salty Sailor and this time, I had no more important business to attend.
