Grayce on Battlegrounds!

Ahh, Battlegrounds. I have to admit, I was not always a fan of BGs. In fact, anything PVP related used to make me want to sit down and weep. But lately, I’ve been rather enjoying them. I’m not sure what changed or why (maybe it was Wintergrasp?), but I have found myself running around a battleground or two every day for the past week or so. I do the battleground daily. I’m using my honor points to buy PVP gear. How did I get here? Am I totally out of control? Probably. However, for as much as I am starting to enjoy BGs, there are still a few things about them that irk me. (Maybe “irk” isn’t the right word. I’m not sure. But for lack of a better word, it’s what we’re going with today.) And since Svenn is such a huge fan of lists, I thought I would list them out for you here, today.

Things I DON’T enjoy about battlegrounds:

1. Not having any idea what I’m doing there. I’ll admit it, I am a BG noob, and really have no business being in most of them. And I hate running around these places completely lost, and then finding myself dead because I stupidly ran into 7 horde players.

I will say this though, with the achievement system Blizzard has in place, I found I can look up what achievements are available for each BG and then have a somewhat better grasp of what’s going on around me and what the goal of each battleground is. Sure, I’m still clueless most of the time, but at least I have an idea of my end goal should be (yes, I know the end goal is to win the battleground, but now I have a better idea of how to obtain that goal).

2. I don’t like being so squishy. Obviously I could remedy this by bringing my paladin into the BG instead of my mage, but I’ve already started gearing Grayce and stuff, so she’s my PVP toon of choice.

I am hoping that as I get better PVP gear, and get a better grasp on what I’m doing in most of these places, that I will be less squishy, and I won’t die as often. Obviously there’s no hope for me when I run into 7 enemies at once, and I’m all by my lonesome (which is when I usually just sit there and watch as they kill me, there’s no point in fighting back). But soon I hope to dominate in these things and have my name known throughout the PVP worlds. Others will say of me, “Have you heard of that mage, Grayce? Dude, you do NOT want to mess with her. If you roll up on her in a BG, just give up, you don’t stand a chance.” Okay, maybe not, but a girl can dream.

3. Finally, and this is my biggest pet peeve about battlegrounds, is all the attitude and QQ-ing (as it’s called in game) that goes on when a BG doesn’t go the way someone wants it to.

First of all, bro, it’s a stinkin’ game, okay? Lighten up. If you are seriously getting that bent out of shape over this kind of thing, you might want to step away from the computer for a few days, go outside, and explore nature a little bit.

Secondly, telling the other people in your BG group that they suck isn’t really a cool thing to do. It does not make you seem as important and awesome as you might think it does. I does, however, is make you sound like a tool. It also doesn’t make me want to work harder to help you out. I was in a BG the other night and the attitude flying around that place was unreal. There were people cursing at each other, yelling back and forth, and just being all-around jerkfaces. There is really no need for that sort of behavior. It kind of ruins the fun for everyone else. And that is what this game is supposed to be by the way: fun.

So, there you have it. My list (and did you notice the little list within the list? I’m so good to my Svenn) of things about battlegrounds that irk me. Not that they’ll stop me from running a BG every now and then, but sometimes a girl’s just gotta put these sorts of things out there. Thanks for reading and I’m sure Svenn will have something much more interesting for you to read next.

Thanks Grayce! It has been fun watching you PvP, now if you can just stick the landing when you slowfall from the Lumber Mill to the BS you will be in business :)

Frost mages (played well) are doom in PvP. I've tried it but the only talent I have frost specced is to AE grind. Best of luck in the BG's. We should have guild BG runs. I know there are a few out there that enjoy it and vent makes it somewhat manageable.

All of the downsides to BGs disappear the first time you kill a Blood Elf and hear that little squeal as pretty boy hits the ground. :D
