Author Introduction

Over the next few weeks, with hopes to make it a permanent semi-regular feature, Svenn will be posting a few guest spots in addition to his normal posts. He was going to post the first of these spots today but, so eloquently was it written (and a bit different in nature from his usual mundane fare), that he felt a proper introduction was in order.

Last week Svenn asked a fellow Guildie (who happens to be his sister) Shaara to write up a little something on Social Constructs in MMOs, and she responded in true literary fashion.

Shaara is a graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in English, and a focus on Medieval Literature. She is an accomplished writer in her own right, author of several blogs, and is an active advocate for continued/increased funding for Public Libraries. She has always been an avid reader and prolific writer, and enjoys a good fantasy book from time to time.
Shaara's approach to WoW makes casual players look hard-core. She is just as happy parked at a bar stool in Dal chatting it up as she is doing a few quests in the Northrend starting zones. Attempts have been made to reform her from a life of social interactions and observation to something more "productive" such as leveling; they have met with failure...which is good, considering the nature of the assignment Svenn put before her. You will have to wait till Monday to see what she has to say but knowing her, it will have something to do with these guys....

LOL! I love how you characterize my WoW life; it's so true. I like to think of myself as a WoW anthropologist...taking my time to soak up the culture. Besides, between you, Jeff and Grayce, we already have enough level 80 toons in this family, don't you think? ;)
